It's 2000: the Year of the Golden Dragon has turned into a Y2K disaster for Jessica Chou. Her Northern California dotcom career is a shambles. Unemployed for ten months and her engagement dragging into an unplanned third year, she and her boyfriend Vincent and their 18 month-old daughter move in with her parents. It doesn't help that once a week she has to face the success of her beautiful older sister, an IPO lawyer married to a high-tech mogul. Jessica yearns to find a vocation that will bring her fame and fortune, but her only asset is her singing voice. What, then, is a college-educated and desperate thirty-something Chinese woman to do? Start an all-female, Asian-American rock and roll band, of course.
