Cherie
Cherie had a chance for freedom, a home and shop of her own. Chance came in form of the Marquis Beaumont Montroy. The tons golden Adonis offered freedom with conditions. Cherie would have her shop and the flat above, if she posed for his ‘nude of the century'.

Cherie blew a curl from her forehead, and studied her image in the mirror. Michael said she was pretty. Rather a weak word … pretty, still, if Michael said so, it must be fact. Michael said she was twenty-four, and it was time for her to marry. Michael produced several suitable males, and declared it was up to her to make the right choice. Michael was her brother. He had her best interests at heart. Truth be told, if only to herself, when it came to her life Michael said and did a great deal. Truth, a bitter tonic, told her she was a twenty-four year old virgin, and if she did not do something outrageous soon, she never would. She could agree to Beau's offer. She could pose for the ‘nude of the century', accept his offer of a shop and flat, and add one or two conditions of her own.
