Change for the Worse
Francis Peck, warden of Fairlynch Manor, a stately home owned by the government, was a most unlikely person to be murdered. He was a charming middle-aged gentleman, happily married with one son and very popular in the district during the short time he and his wife had lived at the manor.

Yet, one Saturday night, after a hectic day spent organizing a special exhibition of the work of local artists, someone broke into the house and killed him.
