Robin Daniels has a gripe with life. She doesn't want to be a American Indian living in a white world.She doesn't want to listen to any more of her mother's stories about where she came from and who she is.
Robin has spent her entire life running away from who she is, and she feels trapped by her identity.
That is, she feels trapped until kidnappers mistakenly nab her along with two other kids
and hold them for ransom in an abandoned quarry. Then she's REALLY trapped.
She feels trapped until the kids escape and hide in a cave with snarling wolves and with the kidnappers right outside. Then she's REALLY trapped.
Robin is on a quest with only one route of escape â€" she must retrace the path of her Potawatomi ancestors. As the parallel story of her great-great-great grandmother unfolds, Robin is running again, but this time she is running for her life and for the lives of the other two kids still trapped in the Cave of Memories.
