The Civil War is raging in the East. Even as far away as the Washoe region of the Nevada Territory, the deadly conflict between North and South has forced tensions between opposing sympathizers to the flashpoint. Now, a deadly wave of lawlessness threatens to tear Carson City apart. Vicious crimes are being committed, snipers ambushing stagecoaches that carry vital funds for the Union from the silver diggings, armed riders slashing telegraph lines. The crimes are the work of an outlaw gang run by the crazed Confederate Reb Jackman, who believes the chaos, violence, and stolen silver will help his beleaguered South. With the war exploding into the West, his mad dreams could become reality unless Frank Gannon, division agent for the victimized Overland Stage Line, with the help of the courageous Laura Kirby, two feuding lawmen, and a dedicated doctor, can crush the raiders -- and bring peace back to Carson City.
