Brutal Indifference
A small child cries herself to sleep at night. She waits alone while her mother hugs a booze bottle and searches frantically for the next emotional high. A father walks away, never looking back, and leaves a five-year-old child to cling to a woman who is too selfish to love, and too dissolute to care. A group of rowdy, drunken men kill, and tear a young woman's last, long-nurtured hope for love brutally away from her. A lonely young woman's mind begins to twist.

Someone is killing people in the city of Chicago. Detective Pete Sargent soon realizes that the murdered men all had a connection to two women. One of them, a fellow cop, has shared Pete's bed but not the secrets that are drawing her into his circle of suspects; the other is like a lost little girl, who only wants someone, at last, to love her. One of the two women is killing people with brutal efficiency. She is working her way through everyone who has hurt her in the past and serving up the ultimate punishment for their Brutal Indifference to her pain and loneliness. Pete Sargent doesn't have much time to figure out which woman is being drawn to murder again and again. He doesn't have much time before she completes her murderous rampage by killing the man who is her father, and his two beautiful little girls.

Brutal Indifference is a psychological thriller that will haunt your thoughts for a long time to come. It is a startling and heart-rending story, and a darn good read.
