Immediately following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Boston-born Chris Collins decided to forego college and enlist in the Marine Corps, to do his patriotic duty and go overseas to fight the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan. There he would meet and form tight bonds of friendship with three other Marines: Joey Martelli from Chicago, Antoine Rowe from Detroit and Sebastian Constantine from New York. After two tours of duty in the Middle East, Chris and his friends returned home to the States and despite promises to stay in touch, they soon lost contact. It is now 2011, and Chris is still having trouble settling back into a regular routine when he receives the news of Joey's untimely passing. One of Joey's final wishes was to have his three buddies stand as Honor Guard at his funeral. Bound by loyalty, Chris accepts and soon finds himself on a plane heading for Chicago. During the bittersweet reunion, the surviving members of The Fearsome Four find they have one other task to perform at the behest of their fallen brother: a road trip from Chicago to the Grand Canyon, a place Joey had always wanted to visit but never got around to seeing before his passing. Antoine is forced to decline, which leaves Sebastian and Chris to carry out their friend's last request. And so begins a cross-country journey of discovery, as Sebastian opens up to Chris about his personal life and the dark secrets Joey had confided in him. Suddenly, everything Chris has ever known or believed about their friendship is called into question. Will these two men who once trusted each other with their lives be able to fulfill their promise to their departed brother-in-arms?
