Single parenting is tough. Very tough. It is made more tough by the insanely high standards of The Clones who are the coolest gang in the playground. They are always wearing the nicest clothes, driving the best cars and going on the most extravagant holidays. All the while Liss can't even keep up with her laundry. Dumped again and in a part time job she hates, Liss vents her frustrations and thoughts about the future in her blog, Broken Dreams and Bottom Lines, when she should really be filing or answering the phone. She reasons that women can multi-task so why should she just waste away with only a chair to swivel and a window to stare through? Outside of work she chases around her two lively children and leans on her three best friends - although they have issues of their own. Contending with the strenuous demands of marriage, divorce and career, these three women aren't always sure they are more happy than Liss. As their dilemmas unfold and they try to find routes out of their deadends, Liss tries to mend her dreams and make them come true. This novel is a test of modern womanhood. In a world motivated by the belief we can have it all, what can a girl do when it has gone wrong? In a world where it's commonly believed everyone gets a second chance, how can she make sure that chance is worth getting? With children at home, how can a woman build the future they all deserve precisely at the moment they need it? Liss Birling does everything she can to find out.
