In the criminal justice system, everyone makes deals. It's part of the game. But sometimes deals backfire.
Four years ago, on a rainy summer night, police detective Jimmy Griffin shot Dunbar Waddy in cold blood and left him for dead in the Baltimore Harbor. Waddy was a suspected serial killer the newspapers called Bright Eyes, but Waddy's body was never found.
Now, a new Bright Eyes' victim has turned up--found naked in a peep show booth with a red hexagon painted on her torso.
Griffin's boss and best friend, Mickey Blane--the only person who knows what Griffin did four years ago--orders Griffin to find Bright Eyes again--find him fast and keep it covered up.
But before Griffin can track Bright Eyes, he must battle through what went wrong four years ago and what he can do about it now.
