Beverly & Marigold — Val Coleman

In a first group of stories, a young boy named Beverly moves East to join the theater, the army, and the Southern Freedom Movement and finally becomes aware of the world of the homeless, which comes alive in a second group of tales about Marigold, a homeless black woman who runs for mayor.
