She rapped softly against the door panel. And then a bit louder when there was no response. The pacing steps ceased. She could imagine Tony in there, listening but not moving, and she rattled the doorknob and called, "Tony, it's me, Lisa! Please, I must talk to you!"
The latch unsnapped and the door opened. She saw his figure outlined by the bright light that burned behind him, but she could not see his face. Then he stepped back, out of the shadows...
