Bayfield's Secret Notebook — David Fabio

This historical fiction novel starts out in the 1860's as the war breaks out in Kentucky and the story leads north to Minnesota and Wisconsin after the war. The Civil War is winding down. The Confederacy realizes it is losing the War, and is attempting to return some of the remaining gold to England and France that allowed them to finance the War. When a writer finds an old set of notebooks written during and after the war, his research leads to the story of an attempt to return the gold to England. This historical fiction involves mystery, romance, murder, espionage, and treasure hunting. Locations include: Petersburg, Louisville, St. Louis, Galina, Winona, Stillwater, Hudson, Bayfield, and other towns.
