Battle at Thunderhorse Mesa — G.A. Carrington

Savage attacks on the U. S. Army by Apache Chief Nantaje and his renegade band are jeopardizing the uneasy peace of the territory, and Headquarters wants him stopped. Losing men every day to Nantage's, Captain Marcus Cavanaugh goes through channels to get reinforcements, and receives fresh troops from the nearest regiment -- a black detachment from the 10th Cavalry. Brave fighters feared by the Indians, who call them "Buffalo Soldiers," they encounter resistance from the other cavalrymen -- until they take the field.
