This love story is one that puts two very divergent social cultures together in strange ways. Ralph Higgins is a college professor teaching creative writing. That is his public persona. He is a very wealthy owner of a racetrack and breeds thoroughbreds for fun and profit. The man is not without his monetary charms. Miss Jackie Sheridan is a poor small town country rodeo girl. When a series of events lands her as the man's date to his racetrack, she finds herself down on the track after a race walking out the mares that had just finished running. With a very spirited stallion for sale by the owner showcased at the beginning of the race, she notices a mare that had bolted free from her handler and had taken off around the track. To the gasp of the watching crowd she mounts the stallion bareback and hanging on only by her lower legs behind his front shoulders she rapidly runs down the escaping mare and returns her to his handler in front of the applauding grandstand. Ralph is smitten with this horse woman Jackie and she is smitten with the man's horses. Surely something could be worked out in the romance department to keep the two together!
