Captain Tony Storm and his Red Team of Hacker, Cowboy and Hellcat are seconded to Col Sec Intelligence where they are given the new designation Fireteam Alpha. They are tasked with capturing a known terrorist last seen on the planet Potera.
Storm, callsign Guardian and his team manage to thwart the terrorist's plan to explode a mini nuke in a populated area. Thinking this threat is over they soon learn differently when another is exploded elsewhere.
Col Sec are called in to investigate and the new commander General Gemmell realises his first operation in charge could also be his last if the perpetrators are not found.
The New Order is a group of influential people who have been working in the shadows for years transmit a message accepting responsibility for the explosion adding that they would detonate another every hour until their demands are met.
Kurt, Zara and the Wildfire Team along with operative Matt Hawk have to learn who this New Order is and stop them before more lives are lost.
Space docks in orbit around Io and a deep space research station are a;; targeted to prove the validity of their claim. An attempt on President Takagi's life is made in order for the New Order to replace him with one of their own.
The action jumps from Earth to Cordoba and back as Kurt and Zara fight to protect the President against forces that have seemingly endless resources during which they learn the New Order has members hidden everywhere.
Choosing only people they are certain they can trust Kurt, Zara and the Wildfire Team have to race to find the one place that links all the bombs the New Order has hidden on several planets before they detonate them all killing billions of lives around the galaxy.
This is a fight that not all of them will see to the end when one or more of them make the ultimate sacrifice to avert Armageddon.
