Can we change our destiny? The answer, according to the gods of Rome, is no. Nona spins her wheel and our fates are sealed within the thread that runs through her fingers; Decima measures the thread, determining length of our lives, and when our time on Earth is over, Morta's shears cut the thread sending us to the Elysian Fields. It is as it should be. Until an arrogant, drunken god hurls his trident at a tiny, inhabited island instead of a lifeless rock, causing a cataclysmic crisis on Olympus.

In part 3 of the Pello Island Quartet, we learn Antonia's story. As a girl, Antonia was rejected by her father and abused by her brothers. She learned to take care of herself, and when her father agreed to a marriage between Antonia and a sadistic man, Antonia murdered her husband on their wedding day, leading to her incarceration on Pello Island.

As Antonia waits for a new body on Mount Olympus, she and a mortal named Janus grow close. Janus works for the goddesses as a go-between. He helps the islanders get settled in their new bodies in hopes of redeeming himself for a terrible mistake he made while imprisoned on Pello Island, where he also harbored an unrequited love for Antonia.

Now, Janus' sweet affection has wrought a change in Antonia. They spend as much time together as they can, growing deeper in love, and hoping the goddesses will never find a body for Antonia. Alas, they do, and when the goddesses inform Antonia that they have found the perfect place for her, she weeps, knowing she will never see Janus again.

After a tearful goodbye, she is sent to Ireland in the 18th century. She wakes up in the home of an old man. The body she inhabits has been badly beaten and it takes days for Antonia to recover. During that time, she learns that the body had belonged to a woman named Magda. Magda had been in love with an outlaw named Baylor, a fearsome rogue who found her with his brother, Kyran, and in a fit of jealous rage, beat her. Kyran then took Magda to the home of his uncle. When Antonia is well enough to travel, Kyran takes her to a village hoping Baylor will never see her again as Baylor wanted her dead.

The peace Antonia craves soon becomes a reality in the small village until one day, Baylor passes by and sees her, and his rage upon learning she still lives, threatens to destroy her idyllic new life.

The quartet is available on Amazon for just 99 cents each!
