But gradually, Laney learns that the prank hints of a crime committed two generations before. Unfortunately, Shar carries out her own investigation and becomes the suspect in a murder.

With Shar and Malcolm's wedding approaching and the police closing in, Laney discovers a plot of greed and murder that threatens the future of Shar, Malcolm and little Scotty.

Laney finally uncovers the evidence that can ferret out the killer, but learns too late that it is the murderer who controls the only way out -- certain death.
