Inspector David Charles is just about the most irritating copper in the Met and his DS certainly earns his money working with the man. But this case proves to be like no other when they are sent up to a small village in Tyne and Wear to investigate the murder of a young woman found frozen in a roadside ditch. She is later to be found pregnant which gives them a motive at least but is it the father who killed her?
