Valda Darcy has witnessed a plague overwhelm her world, and is resolved to find the solution to save everyone, including her uncle and only family, Nolan. Yet her nerve and decision leads to a series of adventures that she never could have been prepared for. When escaping down to earth, she is met with many dangers, facing many mythological monsters. Yet she is both happy and not happy that she is not alone. Very soon after journeying to earth, she comes upon a mysterious traveler named Rory Hemmingway, who makes a living as a Hunter, travelling throughout the forests and keeping the population of monsters down to a manageable population. Soon after they meet, Valda grudgingly employs him to lead her to the domain of Melligrus the Dark Lord. Rory at first is hesitant, nor is she sure that she can trust them, especially since there is something about him that seems hidden, as if there is a secret that he is hiding. However as they travel together, he takes her not only through the forests, but to other areas and Valda learns of the other wizards and witches that reside still on earth. Yet she learns that her suspicions about Rory were accurate and she learns that the person who she had been travelling with was not who he said he was. Will this revealing of Rory's secret tear a rift between them or will it bring them closer?
