A Sparrow Falls Fourth of July — Donna McLean

The day of the annual Fourth of July picnic in Sparrow Falls, North Carolina starts out well enough. The sun is shining, the temperature is warming, the bagpiper is practicing and the children are playing. Picnic baskets are being packed with homemade goodies and fireworks are being readied for the night's big show. Things quickly take a turn for the worse, however, when Tilda MacArdan happens upon the scene of a very freshly made crime! The spry senior citizen sleuth pays a visit to a friend and finds the dear lady's spouse deceased in the drawing room. The only viable suspect is the confused and bewildered wife of the extremely wealthy -- and now positively dead -- man.
