A Shadow on Capricorn
Fiery Inez Hill, a redhead and a Capricorn, had never knew her father.

Suddenly, she learned he was dead and had left her his fortune. Inez inherited Gramcliff Manor and all that went with it -- a strange widow, two weird half-sister's, a ghost, unsolved murder and a very attractive young lawyer.

As she drove along the highway to an estate called Gramcliff Manor, titian-haired Inez Hill reviewed the startling events that had propelled her on this journey. One day she was an assistant to astrologer Val Lane; the next, she had become part-heiress to fame sculptor Godfrey Ames's estate. Her mind still spun from the impact of the words that young James Stanbury had uttered that day: she was Ames's daughter by his first marriage, and Stanbury, as his lawyer, had conclusive proof to this effect!

Later, when it had all sunk in, she recalled that her mother--now dead--had refused to discuss her father that Inez had never known, and Inez had assumed that he had died long ago. But Godfrey Ames had not died then; he died from a fall down a stairway in Gramcliff, just before he was to reveal himself to Inez. All the facts were contained in his diaries, but the will including Inez was missing. Still, Ames's second family--the regal Clarice and her daughters, Pauline and Ruth--were eager to embrace Inez as a member of their family.

As a Capricorn, Inez was a deep thinker, and she took the science of astrology seriously--especially after Ruth began to speak of the "ghost of the nun in black" who had pushed her father down the stairs. And when Inez herself saw the phantomlike figure soon after her arrival, she began to fear for her life...
