A Misfit's Vision — Ron Brown

When Billy loses his baseball glove, the neighborhood drop-out, Rodney, finds and keeps it. In the process of retrieving the glove, Billy witnesses the strength of Rodney's pitching arm and follows his fantasy to turn the petty thief into a professional baseball player and thus impress the girl of his dreams. To show their appreciation for Billy taking their disadvantaged son under his wing, Rodney's old-fashioned parents bequeath Billy a portion of their substantial estate. Billy's vision would fizzle to another failed attempt of a young man's deluded search for significance, but a catastrophe that strikes Rodney's family instigates a much more meaningful quest. With the help of his clique of ostracized friends, Billy must achieve a complex and challenging venture. During his journey, he must reassess his priorities among the list of prospects: hidden treasure, recognition for ambitious accomplishments, the girl of his dreams, and loyal friendships.
