A LOST MANUSCRIPT AND A STOLEN HEART

After her father's death, the bookish, pretty and very innocent Elise Ashford considers herself lucky to be taken in at Wicklow Manor to catalogue the estate's library. Not as fortunate is the attention of the owner's visiting relative, the rakish Lord Dayton. Dayton is impudent, flirtatious, and--Elise hates to admit it--terribly attractive. Alas, he always seems to catch her acting like a complete ninny hammer. Why does she care if he grins at her? Why do her senses tingle? Elise thinks it all a puzzlement. Puzzling too are the tales of a mysterious lost manuscript that she thinks it would be a great adventure to find. .. or a great mistake.

For soon someone is trying to scare Elise away. Then the estate's young heir has a near-fatal riding mishap, that is clearly no accident. The evidence points to the gadabout Lord Dayton, but Elise's heart tells her otherwise. Now she is torn between suspicion and passion ... and the greatest danger of all may be falling in love.

Hero: Lord Drayton
Heroine: Elise Ashford
