Fountain Inn — Victor Canning

Six different enterprises occupy Staircase One of Fountain Inn on Chancery Lane. Ben and Helen Brown of General Factotums on the third floor find themselves hired to investigate the Society for Progressive Rehabilitation on the second floor. Meanwhile their secretary Grace is falling in love with the architect George Crane who works on the first floor. There is a kidnapped lady to rescue, a historical document that may or may not be a forgery, and a thrilling chase from London to Wales before the story reaches its happy ending. Happy for some, that is, not for the villains.
