Moving to Sweden after the death of her parents, Karen Christensen was determined to make a new life for herself. Her plans seemed to be working out, for she met Lars Tengborn, a young industrial designer living in Stockholm.

They seemed to be so right for each other, destined to enjoy forever the endless Swedish summer. Then, like the clouds of winter, Karen began to have doubts. She had accepted a dinner invitation from wealthy Gunnar Lindstrom, which made Lars furious. She couldn't understand how a normally gentle person could become so enraged.

Had she misjudged him? Was he really a brutal jealous man? Karen's happy new life suddenly seemed to be dissolving before her very eyes.
