Parthena's Promise — Valerie Holmes

1815: Parthena arrives in a small Yorkshire village to take up a post as governess, only to find that the family has moved away, leaving her stranded on her own in an unfamiliar place. Here she meets Jerome Fender, a soldier returning from the wars. He is enchanted by Thena and offers to help her.
