When Keith Watson asks Nicola to marry him, the secret of the past that haunts her gradually emerges. Just when she believes her life to be settled and uncomplicated, a painting appears at the Royal Academy -- a painting which Nurse Bellamy insists is exactly like Nicola. Intrigued, Keith and Nicola go to see the portrait and, by doing so, Nicola steps back into her past and to Doctor Simon Tennant.
