Carole Seddon's estranged relationship with her son Stephen has improved since he started seeing Gaby Martin, and she cannot be more pleased that they've decided to marry in Fethering. She does find it a bit odd, though, that Gaby's parents have no interest in arranging the wedding--and seem terrified at the prospect of publicizing it.

Then, on the night the Martins throw the couple an engagement party, the father of the bride disappears--only to be found brutally murdered the following morn. Now, Carole must elicit Jude's help in sifting through the guest list -- including Gaby's nefarious brother and justice of the peace uncle--before her son marries into a family with a rather suspicious history...
