Description
Belladoña of the nightclub Noche Buena is menaced by violent extortionists. She consults P.I. Héctor who consults Gheorghe. They decide to follow the thugs. Pepe might be acting El Capo but he's still Pepe and out for a night's entertainment when he suddenly finds himself a hostage. Now they're looking for gangsters and Pepe. Then Belladoña is kidnapped and things get even more complicated. Jesús gets involved because he's now the resident gangster expert. But the theme running through the book is mothers: Carmen continues her search for the stolen baby. She also discovers ‘mothers' are useful as a tool for discipline even in the Guardia Civil. The stolen baby's story is told as well. Gheorghe meets his one-time foster mother, a doctor in Granada. Even Belladoña it seems was born of woman. And more surprising still is that one of the great unsung heroes of Spanish policing turns out to be mortal, El Sapo. RIP. Oh yes, and Jesús finds out what to do with parking tickets.
