Returning victorious from her long quest, Queen Rathe Saban has brought back Montesinos DeKellia to aid them in the wars still tearing the land.

DeKellia, though, is still reeling from being introduced to his son after seventeen years of absence. Even as Rathe discloses her plans for empire, DeKellia must see to the safety of his errant son and the two young women swept up in the boy's wake.
