What would you do if your parents adopted a monster? The City of Silvershine is divided in half by an impassable Wall. On the North side live the wealthy and privileged. The occupants of the South side are curious and extraordinary monsters. Twelve year old Zach Morgenstern, an only child, is quite content with his school, his friends and his perfectly ordinary life â€" until his parents decide to adopt a monster from beyond the Wall. Zach hates Morton. But soon after Morton's arrival, children from the North Side of the Wall start vanishing. When it's revealed that the monsters are behind the disappearances, the reluctant brothers must work together to destroy a force more ancient and evil than anyone in Silvershine can imagine. Will they be able to rescue the missing children â€" or does Monster-boy have plans of his own?
