Liam and the Sun Bear — Paul Weightman

This story is about 11 year old Liam McFarland. Who spends most of his Saturday afternoons, earning his pocket-money, helping his uncle Fergus in the local bookshop...The story begins one Saturday afternoon, whilst Liam is in his uncles bookshop. Liam was busy sorting out the stacks of second-hand books in the rear of the shop, when Liam discovers a very old book. The book had no real distinguishing marks, other than a strange sign, embossed in leather, on the front cover. After showing his uncle this particular book, Liam is told to place it with all the other antique books, on a glass cabinet, at the far side of the room. On closer inspection, Liam reads out loud, the inscription, inside the front cover of the book. Liam is then suddenly transported to the magical land of Mizraim.
