The Conscience of Lincoln Bobo — Michael Smith

A newspaper reporter finds a note in his dead father's personal effects that was a reminder to contact Lincoln Bobo ASAP. An intense investigation by the reporter uncovers an event in a high school football game that occurred 23 years earlier. The event led to this African-American high school phenom being dropped by college football recruiters. The investigation uncovers a gross injustice committed against the young man and how it changed his life and the disappointments and successes as he progresses toward redemption. As a climax, the book slides into a form of magical realism that will have you standing and cheering for Lincoln Bobo.
