Description
Caleb & Shalev is a heart-warming Christmas story that takes place in the hills of Judea at the time of Christ's birth. Caleb is a lame little orphan boy who lives with a group of shepherds who beat him and treat him poorly. He only wishes for someone to love him. One day, Caleb is given a crippled lamb to watch over. He names the lamb Shalev, which means peaceful heart. After seeing the king pass by, Caleb dreams of one day meeting someone who will take care of him and Shalev. Caleb asks to come with the shepherds when they go to see the king, but they refuse to take him. After they leave, he follows at a distance. But instead of meeting the king, he finds a small baby boy. In awe, he gives his lamb Shalev as a gift to the infant. This act changes the hearts of the shepherds and they finally welcome Caleb as one of their own. Through a brief act of kindness with the baby Jesus, peace comes to a lonely child's heart. Author Max Ediger wants children to enjoy reading the Christmas story from a different perspective. “I felt that if they see the story through the eyes of someone more like them, it might have new meaning and inspiration for them
