Ghostly Carnival — Mary Williams

Mary Williams once again presents an inimitable collection of ghost stories to bring a chill to the staunchest spine. Cornwall is again their setting, for Cornwall is as variable in its moods -- from the sinister and macabre to the fey and fanciful -- as are her stories. There is the isolated cottage so apparently perfect for John and Blanche Farrow -- until they had lived there some months to discover there were other dwellers in that deserted woodland; and in contrast we meet Mrs Porter and Mrs Jolly, two elderly ladies enjoying a brief break at the seaside and deciding to take a hand in arranging the town carnival -- a rather unusual carnival...
