A Strange Household!

The position as companion-secretary to Ada Haddon, whose mansion was one of California's showplaces, seemed made to order for Joan Lamore's needs -- a position which promised tranquility and security. Even the Haddon mansion somehow appeared to be a trusting house, a sanctuary. But appearances were deceptive, and Joan soon found herself involved with a strange household: Noah Haddon, the wealthy but lecherous executive who wanted Joan to be more than a companion-secretary to his wife: Ada Haddon, whose retreats into the world of meditation hid some ghastly secret; Sally Duron, a child who needed love more than she needed the steel brace on her leg; and handsome Ben Ewing, a young law student who was working his way through school as caretaker on the Haddon estate.
