Heart Songs, in Search of a Goddess — Kathleen E. Fearing

Brigid and her mother and grandmother used to sing their Heart Songs together. Now both her mother and grandmother are gone. Brigid could not bring herself to be at the hospital when her mother died, and she feels terribly guilty. This guilt leads her to the river, where she must make a difficult decision. Brigid feels all is lost, until she is visited by some unexpected ghosts.
