My loyalties to my sister drew me to this desolate town. I knew I couldn't leave her alone with my father, Jack, a man who left my mother and I years ago and never looked back. I have spent most of my life trying to forget him, and now, here I was. Living under his roof. Time has not been kind to us. The silent hope I brought with me has begun to fade.
