Description
Resentfully housed together in a villa at Frascati are four neurotic females. Emily Stoneham is a paid companion - disapproving but helpless. Lilian Mannering and Frances Fenton are half sisters, whose only shared feeling is a passionate desire for the death of the fourth member of the household, their mother, a despotic, wealthy widow.
Lilian wants her father's money, in order to escape an arranged marriage and pursue a romance with an expatriate English artist. Frances, jealous, burns for her chance in the marriage market.
Suddenly Mrs. Fenton dies, plunging the others into a frenzy of accusations, counter-accusations, guilt and panic. If Mrs. Fenton's death had been murder, it was not to be the last...
