High-school lovers Henry and Sarah are sure they will follow in the time-honored footsteps of others in their Downeast community: he will work as a sternman and maybe someday own his own fishing boat and she will raise the family. When they head off to college they find their assumptions challenged by today's political turmoil. Exposed not only to different ideas but also different people, their path appears muddy and they are forced to make choices that they had not previously considered. This is the fifth novel by JD Rule - the Resident Novelist of Lubec, Maine - to be set in a Downeast community.
