Bluebottle — James Sallis

Lew Griffin is leaving a New Orleans club with an older white woman he's just met when somebody fires a shot -- and Lew goes down. When he finally comes to, he is temporarily blinded and has lost a year of his life.

Now he must find out why and how and, in doing so, find himself. He must also discover if he was the real target of the shooting that has robbed him of that year . . . or was it the woman who was with him at the time. As a black man investigating a cult of white supremacists, he is sure to become a moving target for too many guns.
