A Patriot Treason — James Fontana

CIA agent Evan Trent discovers an unthinkable, bizarre conpsiracy between the US President Wakefield and USSR Chairman Mikhailov to start WW Three as a way to end the Cold War and promote world peace. Faced with political and personal obstacles as he tries to understand to stop the plot, he discovers, almost too late, that he has been wrong. The conspiracy, derived from an event that happened years before during WW Two as the Allies' advance on Berlin, is not what he thinks it is. It is something far more bizarre and dangerous.
