Kai has worked hard to earn his spot as captain of his school’s volleyball team, but his world is turned upside down when his family leaves Hawai‘i in search of better opportunities. He feels like he is losing his identity and everything he’s worked for. His family tries to help him understand that hula is a way for him to stay connected to his heritage and the legacy of their ancestors, but Kai is resistant. What will it take for him to discover the deeper connection between his family’s traditions and his own strength?
