EIGHTY PEOPLE SAW HIM MURDERED…

Dr. Gilbert Shane stood alone on a brightly-lighted stage, all eyes upon him as he joked and laughed. And then:

“His voice stopped. An expression of surprise crossed his face and his eyes widened. They became very round and blue. He stood perfectly motionless for a fraction of a second, then his mouth opened and he leaped into the air, lurched violently, fell forward and lay still. And when Inspector McKee arrived, he soon discovered two strange things…that no one had seen the killer, and that three women, dressed in black, had been present at the time of the killing -- each having little reason to mourn the doctor, and plenty of reason to murder him.
