When soldier Ferguson Bancroft was captured by the Kinnears he was thrown into prison to rot. Ferguson never expected to be a free man again, but two years later Gideon Copeland, his old commander, breaks him out of jail.Gideon had been held captive, too, but on escaping he needs Ferguson for a new and dangerous mission. To defeat the Kinnears Arcadia needs an influx of funds and he has now found the location of the fabled Tuathal's treasure. Ferguson readily agrees to help Gideon, but he soon begins to wonder if the mission is all that it seems and whether Gideon has an ulterior motive.
