Gui Jie Zhang, originally from China, is an international artist known for her joyous depictions of Biblical subjects of paintings. Skilled in traditional Chinese paintings and Western paintings, she has also developed a style that she calls “Peasant Art.” Beginning in the early 1990s, her art was being shown in exhibitions in the United States, Holland, Norway and Japan. She is best known in the United States for her paintings on the 1994 Presbyterian planning calendar. In 1989 she won the short fiction literature top prize in China. Currently, Zhang lives in Kearney, Nebraska, with her son.
