Senator Orrin Hatch calls Threads of Honor, "A masterful job. I was inspired . . ." The process that Bill Tolbert was required to go through in his attempt to obtain flight clearance for Troop 514's flag would have deterred a lesser man. But the responsibility he felt for those fourteen young men kept him going. He enlisted the help of all his resources to get the flag included in the official flight kit. Finally, he stood before the troop and announced that their request had been approved. Troop 514's flag would be on the next shuttle mission, due to launch in eight weeks.
