George (Fort) Gibbs (1870-1942) was an American author and illustrator. Best known as a magazine illustrator, he worked on Scribner's, McClure's, Harper's, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Collier's and The Saturday Evening Post amongst others. He also wrote and illustrated over 35 novels, illustrated books for other authors, and wrote screen plays for films. His works include: Pike and Cutlass (1900), The Forbidden Way (1911), The Bolted Door (1911), Madcap (1913), The Yellow Dove (1915), Paradise Garden: The Satirical Narrative of a Great Experiment (1916), Fires of Ambition (1923), The Love of Mademoiselle (1926), Foul Weather (1932) and The Sleeper Wakes (1941).
