Shut the Backdoor — Faye M. Benjamin

Dr. Ryan Braden, along with several of his relatives and friends, join the 96th Ohio Infantry Regiment in 1862. All the men believed they would either fight Gen Robert E. Lee in the Eastern Theater or the Confederate forces in Kentucky and Tennessee. Little do they know, they will be assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Theater and become part of the Union army's desperate struggle to control the Mississippi River and close the backdoor of the Confederacy.
