A Career for Carol — Erika Massey

Working in the New York office of Inn Towers, Inc, was fun for Carol. She liked Mr. Ferro, the big boss, and she liked her immediate superior, attractive Thelma Mount, who was Mr. Ferro's executive secretary. She even liked pert Evie, the blonde switchboard operator. In short, working in the head office of a chain of luxury motels was all that any young girl could hope for. Mr. Ferro even sent Carol on a trip to Florida to inspect her namesake motel -- Carol Court -- where she had a wonderful time with playboy Richie Pearson. In Carol's wildest imaginings she had never thought that she would have a chance to be Mr. Ferro's executive secretary -- oh, someday, years from now, perhaps, but now, to have it thrown in her lap this way -- well, Carol had reached her goal. She should have been happy, but there were two things that kept Carol from being completely happy. One reason was the abrupt ending of Thelma Mount's dream; the other was Ron Dartnell -- the boy that Carol had known most of her life, the boy who was expecting Carol to marry him before he entered medical school.
